A park for all ages in Bucks!
I feel very lucky to live so close to this great park in Aston Clinton, Bucks. Aston Clinton Park is a huge recreational ground and is popular for families, dog walkers and sports.
With parking, a cafe with hall space and soft play area in the Red Kite Pavilion, a stream for paddling in, skate park, sports court, fitness trail and pitches it really has something for everyone.
The Playground at Aston Clinton
There is a gated play area which is accessible from the car park and cafe via a paved path. The playground is part grass and part safety surface. There is a range of traditional equipment which is all in good repair with a few newer things such as accessible swings and roundabout. There is climbing frames/equipment and slides suitable from young toddlers to older kids. Compared to some of the local playgrounds this is larger with more on offer.
Sports Court and Skate Park
There is a gated sports court for football and basketball which is right next to the playground. There is also a skate park with several ramps for bikes and scooters. My children enjoy the smaller ramps on their balance bikes but I can’t say much about how it is for older kids as mine are still young and new to the world of skating and riding!
Over the Bridge to Paddle in the Stream
If you follow the path you will reach a little bridge which takes you over to a meadow area and woodland with a small stream. This is lovely a clear and shallow for paddling in the Summer but does gets VERY busy so if you plan to paddle I would avoid peak times! It is a pebble area so pack some wellies or crocs unless your children have tough feet. There are several benches here which make sit a lovely picnic spot. You can walk further past this area to another bridge which is Summer has a fantastic blackberry bush which leads you back over to the park.
The Cafe and Soft Play
There is a brand new pavilion opened in 2021 and this is the home to Your Cafe In The Park. I have done a separate blog post about the Soft Play click here to find out more.
The Cafe has 2 areas so you don’t have to go and mix with the younger ones who are in soft play. It is a comfy place to meet a friend or do some work and is also dog friendly. There are plenty of picnic tables outside as well.
The food is really good and offers breakfast, lunch, kids lunches, hot drinks, ice creams and delicious treats. There is also a BBQ on Friday evenings from 4pm.
This is a popular park and I am sure the new Pavilion will make it even more so. This was one of my buggy walks when my children were young as it was great for a play/walk/drink/breakfast – it just covered all bases!
