Halloween Lakeside Trail Review 2023

I couldn’t wait to visit the brand new Halloween Lakeside Light Trail and was really excited to be invited along before it opened.

Walking around Partridge Lakes once the sun sets and the woodland becomes dark, the lake isn’t in complete darkness, though, as it’s lit up with lots of beautiful lights and spooky decorations.

It totally started off the Halloween and Autumn season with a bang. Especially as it was a little damp that evening. Donning our wellies and raincoats, we set off on our walk with tentative steps, not knowing what will pop out from behind a tree. The path winds along the edge of the lake, taking you near the waters edge. The reflections on the water really added to the atmosphere of the evening. It’s more spooky than scary, which makes it a perfect family friendly Cheshire Halloween event.

We could hear squeals and giggles as we wondered through the woodland which had truly been transformed into an eerie Halloween world.

The decorations are very good, plenty of witches, ghosts, cauldrons casting out bubbles, spiders crawling out of trees. Our favourite was the floating witches’ hats and a rather freaky laughing jack in a box!

The walk is roughly 1km and took us an hour as we went slowly to make sure we saw it all. The path is wide but sometimes a bit uneven and can get muddy if it’s been raining.

After our chilling walk we were ready to get a warm drink. There was a great selection of food stalls back at the start. Savoury options of halloumi fries, burgers & interesting Vietnamese ricebowls. There is also a couple of bars serving beers & you can get your first mulled wine of the winter season. If you’re after something sweet, there is a desert van making Crepes to order loaded with naughty toppings.

Just a little way back along the light trail we got our gorgeous hot chocolates from the cutest van called “The Travelling Teapot.” They offered lots of autumn themed hot drinks like pumpkin spiced hot choc.
