Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration Events in Gloucestershire

With a special extended bank holiday weekend for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, there will be four days of celebration and lots of events happening all over Gloucestershire. Find all the best family friendly Jubilee events in the Red Kite Days what’s on guide.
Platinum Jubilee Beacon lighting in Gloucestershire – 2nd June
The Platinum Jubilee Beacons is the first official community event of the weekend. Thousands of beacons will be lit by communities, charities and different groups across the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories.
- Gloucester will be celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of HRH Queen Elizabeth by lighting the Beacon on top of Robinswood Hill at 9.45pm on 2nd June 2022.
- Cheltenham‘s Royal picnic and party in the park will include the lighting of a beacon from the balcony of the pump room by Cheltenham mayor.
- Daylesford Jubilee celebrations include the lighting of a Beacon.
- Frampton on Severn will also include a children’s day, treasure hunt and live music.
- Longhope jubilee beacon will be lit on the summit of May Hill
- Stow on the Wold beacon lighting is a free event also including fireworks.
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Events in Gloucester
Gloucester Cathedral Corgi Trail – 20th May – 20th June FREE
A special family trail will be barking, woofing and wagging its way into the Cathedral, featuring the Queen’s beloved corgis! Pick up a trail leaflet from the Welcome Desk and see how many of the corgis you can find, including ‘Novice Norman’ who will be hiding in a new place each day.
Gloucester River of Hope at Gloucester Museum 20th May – 12th June FREE
The Gloucester River of Hope event celebrates the River Severn and the Goddess Sabrina where 18 schools in Gloucester have created flags that share the children’s messages for the future. Follow the river of flags to learn the messages of the children of Gloucester
Gloucester Tall Ships Festival– 3rd to 5th June FREE
Gloucester Tall Ships is back for 2022 with an exciting line up of family friendly entertainment. There is tons of entertainment for all the family from sand sculptors, meeting seafaring characters from the past, flyboarders creating daredevil stunts on the water, a vintage fairground, musicians bursting from every corner of the historic docks and the return of the Gloucester Shanty festival and Pirate Walk.
Longford Village Hall Jubilee Event – 5th June FREE
The Village Hall Committee are hoping to have a quintessentially English traditional type village fete and engage the local community to come along and enjoy demonstrations, be entertained with Gloucester Strings & Mr Grumpy and have the opportunity to buy from local craft enthusiasts with various stalls.
Upton St Leonard’s Jubilee Picnic – 5th June
Upton St Leonard’s are holding a village picnic with children’s entertainment, food, drinks, cakes and refreshments for everyone to enjoy
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Events in Cheltenham
Cheltenham’s Royal Picnic and Party in the Park– 2nd to 3rd June FREE
Cheltenham’s largest free two day community celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s platinum jubilee will take place at Pittville Pump Room on the 2nd and in the park on the Friday.
Jubilee Jolly at Sandford Park – 5th June FREE
Live music will entertain you, there’s plenty of fun for the kids to do and your four-legged friend can even win a prize rosette at the dog show.
Gotherington Jubilee Festival – 4th & 5th June
For the Platinum Jubilee, Gotherington will be putting on a 2 day event. Saturday 4th June 2022 will include Live Music, Bar and Hog Roast and then on Sunday 5th June 2022 there will be a picnic in the park, music, bar, food, and a brass band.
Jubilee Family Fun Friday – Kites, crowns & crafts at Cleve Common – 3rd June
Make your own kite to fly on top of the highest point of the Cotswolds! Decorate it in the style of the union flag. Crown yourself Queen (or King) of the Cotswolds and make some Jubilee inspired decorations to take home.
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Events in Cirencester
Cirencester community picnic and fun day – 2nd June FREE
There will be live music and games, food stalls or bring your own picnic in the grounds of Cirencester Abbey then head over to market place for the lighting of the beacon.
Queen’s Hat Jubilee Trail at Corinium Museum
To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Corinium Museum have teamed up with children’s author Steve Antony and hidden characters from his ‘Queen series’ around the museum galleries. Visit the museum and see if you can find all of the characters and receive a special sticker as a prize at the end of the trail.

Jubilee Fete at the Kings Head Pub – 5th June
Enjoy the Jubilee Weekend at the Kings Head Pub in Kingscourt, in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. There’s large outdoor garden, perfect for families and magnificent views both to the Common and across to Woodchester. Live music, ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ plus lots of stalls, tombola, bouncy castle and Jubilee Cocktails!!
Stonehouse Court Hotel Garden Party – 5th June
Enjoy music playing in the beautiful garden. Tickets are £10 per adult and £6.50 per child, picnic included! Pring your deck chair or picnic blanket and come join the fun!
Dursley Queen’s Jubilee Beacon Trail – 30th April to 12th June FREE
Located around Cam & Dursley are seven magical characters on a day trip from Buckingham Palace. Join Sir Barnaby Beacon on the trail as he visits his friends, you’ll be able to see them augmented reality, decide what happened next in the story and even win a free digital fun pack at the end.
Dursley Jubilee Picnic in the Park – 3rd June FREE
A fun, free community event for all. Bring along your own picnic and enjoy music theatre and games. The event will be held at the War Mermorial Recreation Ground.
