What’s On This Summer for Kids at The Story Museum

The Story Museum in Oxford is the most wonderful place to visit with kids and is a great trip just in itself. Stepping into Small Worlds at is like entering a magical storybook world crafted especially for the very young. For older kids, The Whispering Wood is an enchanted journey through stories tales from old to new.
They also have a great line up of extra activities and events for kids this summer in Oxford.
Meet Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking

- Suitable for ages 5+
Celebrating Astrid Lindgren’s much-loved story hero, Pippi Longstocking, acclaimed storyteller, Danyah Miller, introduces ‘the strongest girl in the world’ to young audiences. Expect plenty of mischief and laughter!
Roald Dahl & The Imagination Seekers
- 21st August
An immersive and interactive performance, involving games and imaginative play, while exploring Roald Dahlʼs extraordinary stories.
Lego Masters Builders Club
- 2nd, 9th, 17th, 23rd August
- Ages 5+
- Ages 8-11 years
Master Builders Club will be providing 1000s of LEGO bricks that will transform the museum space into a LEGO fans paradise. All you need to bring is your imagination and a desire to have fun. The session will be a creative adventure that incorporates a playful learning experience whilst nurturing young minds.
Drag Queen Story Time

It’s story time with extra sparkle! Drag Queens and Kings delve into The Story Museum’s collection and celebrate their favourite story heroes. Expect drama, laughter, songs and the occasional lip sync battle…
David Gibb’s Family Jukebox

David’s Family Jukebox is guaranteed to have both parents and children singing along in no time – this is music the whole family can enjoy together.

The Grow Show

Get digging with Emma Boor’s Grow Show! Have you ever wiggled with a giant worm, seen comedy compost created before your eyes or sung along with a singing carrot? Well, it’s all here in ‘The Grow Show’. This joyful interactive puppet performance features shadow puppets, glove puppets, catchy songs and a puppet garden that grows before your very eyes!
