Set on the outskirts of Windsor, Legoland theme park is a brilliant day out with the family. With exciting rides, playgrounds, a 4D cinema, and lots of Lego exhibits, it’s hard to do it all in a single day. As it’s spread out over a large area and quite hilly, get ready for a day with lots of walking! If it’s sunny, don’t forget kids swimwear as there is a fantastic splash park zone.
Legoland Attractions
There are 10 zones to visit, each with a different theme. It’s worth looking at the map before you visit to plan out where you want to go (and check height restrictions) as there are more attractions than you can manage in a day.
- The Beginning – including a Star Wars Miniland Model Display
- Land of the Vikings – including a briliant water boat ride
- Nexo Knights Kingdom
- Pirate Shores
- Kingdom of the Pharaohs
- Duplo Valley – including a huge splash park
- Heartlake City
- Imagination Centre – including the 4D cinema showing shorts movies every 30 minutes
- Miniland – including a stage with some theatre performances. The Three Little Pigs and Cinderella were on offer the day we visited.
- Adventure Land
- Lego City – including the Driving School.
Here are some of our highlights:
Fire Academy (Lego City)
Lego City is on fire! Become a firefighter and hop on to your fire engine. Drive the fire engine to the burning building then hop out and pump your hose to spray water and put the fire out.
Coastguard HQ (Lego City)
Drive your own speed boat around the lagoon and spot the lego models along the way. My 4 year old loved being able to steer his own boat around.
Viking’s River Splash (Land of the Vikings)
Hop on a circular raft and get whirled around the rapids. There are lego models spraying water. Watch out as you can get quite wet!
Lego Star Wars Miniland Model Display (The Beginning)
My son loves Lego and Star Wars so he found this amazing. There are huge Lego models of the Star Wars characters and moving mini displays. As it’s indoors, this would be a good spot if it’s a rainy day.
Legoland Food and Drinks
There are loads of different food outlets – from restaurants to hot dog stands. As you’d expect the food is quite pricey (basic hot dogs were £4.25) and it’s a good idea to bring some picnic or snacks to eat in the queues as you can be standing around for quite a while.
Legoland Shops
There are shop outlets in each of the themed zones selling Lego for that area as well as a huge Lego store near the entrance which sells the full range. There are also some general shops which sell clothes, towels, swimwear, suncream etc.
Legoland Queues
If you have younger children, it’s definitely worth trying to go during school term time rather than at weekends or holidays. We visited during school term time in early July and it was busier than we expected – typical queue times were 10-15 minutes for each ride. During school holidays in July/August it may get extremely busy with long queues. They’ve got a great app which is worth downloading before you arrive and you can check out the queue times for individual rides and make your way to the ones with the shortest wait time.
