Wokingham in Berkshire has some great play parks on offer both in the town and nearby. Many have large surrounding park areas for free play that are also perfect for picnics and outdoor exercise. Wokingham town playgrounds are up first of course we had to include California Country Park too which is just a bit further south.
1. Cantley Park, Twyford Road, Wokingham, RG40 5QG
The brand new playground located at Cantley Park opened in March 2022. It has the classics of swings, slides, trampolines, small rocking pillars, roundabouts, rock climbing and more. A little different is the interactive equipment where you push buttons to play games.

2. Joel Park, Jubilee Avenue / Holt Lane, Wokingham
Holt Copse playground is nestled in Joel Park and it’s wonderfully bright and colourful with it’s vibrant rubber style flooring. It also makes it a much less muddy experience when it’s been raining! It’s best suited to younger kids with a variety of equipment from swings and a roundabout to a panda see saw and small climbing frame with slide.

5. Oakley Drive Playground
Located in the housing estate behind Pets at Home in Wokingham/opposite Tesco on the Finchampstead Road. Oakley Park is a nice little one, perfect for toddlers with plenty of green space for running around.
6. King George V play park, Goodchild Road, Wokingham
About a 10 minute walk from Wokingham town centre, there’s a small climbing frame with slide, bigger climbing frame and the usual favourites including swings, a roundabout, seesaw and some interactive equipment. It also has inclusive chairs on the swings. The park is right next to a huge field. You can park on Goodchild Road for free for up to 2 hours.
7. Langborough Recreation Ground, Gipsy Lane, Wokingham, RG40 2BS
Langborough Recreation Ground has a large playing field and small enclosed playground close to Wokingham town centre. The play equipment includes a couple of climbing frames, swings, see-saw, roundabout and rickety bridge. It’s all in working order but could do with a freshen up. If you’re not local enough to walk, there’s not really anywhere to park so you’d need to park in one of the town car parks and walk from there.
8. Montague Park, Wokingham
With not one but three play parks to explore, scooter friendly pathways to connect them all and ducks to feed along the way.

9. The Carillons, Plough Lane play area, Wokingham, RG40 1EF
The Carillons (Plough Lane) play are is a fairly small one with a train style climbing frame with a small slide, large climbing frame and slide, child, toddler and circular swings as well as a trampoline and see-saws.
10. California Country Park, Nine Mile Road, Wokingham, RG40 4HU
South of Wokingham, this park is so impressive it has to have a place in this play park guide. Fully gated, spacious and broken up in two separate play sections it includes the strikingly colourful Sensory Garden and the impressive adventure trail at Wild Wood. The overall theme has a very natural element with the seating areas blending in with the surroundings. In the summer months, there’s also a great paddling pool.
